POS-1100 American Government

This course offers a thought-provoking survey of what the American government does and why it matters. Students will engage in a multimedia exploration of the essential characteristics of the American political system, including the roles and responsibilities of political institutions, the effects of the media and interest groups on political outcomes, and the debates that are intrinsic to American politics. This course will help students develop the critical-thinking skills needed to navigate the American political landscape and recognize that political knowledge promotes democratic values and strengthens the political process.
