Registering for Graduate Courses

Students are eligible to take graduate-level courses if:

> They have been accepted into a graduate degree or certificate program
> They have been accepted to be a visiting graduate student
> They have been accepted to the Bachelor’s to Master’s Program

Graduate courses are offered six times a year in January, March, May, July, September, and November. Each course is identified for the specific terms in which it is offered in the course description. A recommended course load is 6 credits per term, allowing the degree to be completed in 18 months or less. Students wishing to take additional courses within a term are encouraged to reach out to their dean. Online courses are guided by mentors, most of whom have practical experience and earned doctoral degrees. All online courses are delivered through myEdison^®, the University’s online portal. Students are expected to have experience and proficiency using a computer, browsing the web, and sending and receiving email. Upon acceptance, students will be sent a seven digit University ID number and password. Graduate students in the W. Cary Edwards School of Nursing and Health Professions should refer to the information pertaining to online nursing programs in the Nursing Student Policies section of this publication.

Registration dates are listed in the Academic Calendars. There will be a week of late registration following the close of regular registration, in which the late registration fee applies.

The University will be closed on the following dates during the 2025-2026 academic year:

• Independence Day: Friday, July 4, 2025
• Labor Day: Monday, September 1, 2025
• Columbus Day: Monday, October 13, 2025
• Thanksgiving: Thursday, Nov. 27, 2025 – Friday, Nov. 28, 2025 (Observed)
• Winter Holiday: Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025 – Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026
• Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday: Monday, January 19, 2026
• Presidents’ Day: Monday, February 16, 2026
• Good Friday: Friday, April 3, 2026
• Memorial Day: Monday, May 25, 2026
• Juneteenth: Friday, June 19, 2026
