LIT-2910 Analysis and Interpretation of Literature

Ezra Pound once observed that "Great literature is simply language charged with meaning to the utmost possible degree." This course explores the major terms and concepts useful in finding and sharing this richer meaning. Traditional and contemporary works will be explored and discussed with an emphasis on analyzing, discussing, and writing about literature in both historical and critical contexts.

Advisory: This is an upper-level literature class. Students should be familiar with the vocabulary and conventions of literary analysis as well as the correct use of Modern Language Association (MLA) style documentation. Before enrolling in an upper-level literature course, students are strongly encouraged to complete ENC-1020:Writing for Success II and one or more introductory literature courses and/or have equivalent knowledge.
