The Bachelor of Science BS degree with an area of study in Respiratory Care is limited to registered respiratory therapists possessing the required certification: NBRC RRT Registered Respiratory Therapist. Students must present a copy of the original certificate and current renewal card. A total of 18 Area of Study credits must be from 300/400 level courses. The degree is a 120-credit program.

  • Certification: NBRC RRT Registered Respiratory Therapist copy of original certificate and current renewal card.
  • Required Courses: Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Cardiopulmonary Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, Pulmonary Function, Pharmacology, Respiratory Techniques three courses, Pediatric Respiratory Care, Clinical Practice, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, and Current Trends and Applications.
  • Corollary Requirements: Chemistry I and II, Physics I, Computer Requirement, Statistics, College Algebra.
  • How Students Earn Credit in the Area of Study: The area of study is completed by the license.
  • A total of 18 area of study credits must be from courses at the 300 level or above.
  • Courses that are devoid of a course code can be accepted in transfer if completed at colleges and universities accredited by the six regional accrediting agencies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

In addition, the University offers a host of ways to earn credit for knowledge obtained in non-collegiate settings. Examples include:

  • Courses and examinations approved through National College Credit Recommendation Service National CCRS and the American Council on Education ACE College Credit Recommendation Service.
