BS in Radiation Protection

Area of Study Overview

The Bachelor of Science BS degree with an area of study in Radiation Protection is designed for radiation safety personnel in nuclear power plants, hospitals, industrial and research settings. The program enables mid-career adults in a wide range of applied fields meet their educational and professional needs while completing a baccalaureate degree. A total of 18 Area of Study credits must be from 300/400 level courses. The degree is a 120-credit program.

  • How Students Earn Credit in the Area of Study: Credit is awarded for National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists NRRPT certification, Navy Basic Nuclear Power School, certification from nuclear utility Institute of Nuclear Power Operations INPO accredited program, and American Council on Education ACE-recommended company training. The remaining credits may be earned by Guided Study, prior learning assessment PLA, or classroom instruction
  • A total of 18 area of study credits must be from courses at the 300 level or above.
